Hometown Tax Application

How It Works

A social oriented smartphone app is funded by a number of local governments in Japan to encourage their citizens to actively pay more consumption tax. Citizens after paying tax, use the application to capture the tax receipts, then get an encouraging gift from their homeland. The technology used is a kind of OCR/computer-vision using OpenCV and Tesseract libraries for SP.

The list of gift products is crawled from popular commercial sites in Japan by the back-end system behind.
